The Transport Committee makes the following recommendations for TfL to continue to improve the way bus firms operate and be even more ambitious for service quality:

• Improved performance league tables for bus operators
• Companies should be judged on their performance in areas like bus driving and wheelchair ramp operation, as well as existing targets for reliability
• Greater transparency in the tendering process for contracts. TfL should explain in greater detail decisions to chose a bid that was not the cheapest and there should be an increase in the average three bids per route
