Following Assembly Member Caroline Russell’s publication of the 2022 shocking formal sponsorship agreement between London Mayor Sadiq Khan and United Airlines, today Zack Polanski AM pushed the Mayor to explain his repeated touting of the airline in his official capacity.

Particularly in light of the now-public 2022 financial sponsorship agreement, Zack gave the Mayor an opportunity to clarify exactly what the nature of his relationship with the airline was when he celebrated United Airlines as providing “excellence … in sustainability” as “one of the world’s leading airlines.” [1]

Green Party London Assembly Member Zack Polanski said:

“For the Mayor to sign a financial agreement with United Airlines one year, then chastise me for daring to question his support for their sponsorship of London’s Pride the following year, stinks of a relationship that’s far too cosy for any public official.

“I gave the Mayor numerous opportunities to clarify what the nature of his relationship is with the airline, and am genuinely dismayed Londoners still don’t have clarity from London’s Mayor.

“As the planet burns, the Mayor isn’t championing London – he’s championing United Airlines.”

Pointing out the particularly egregious delay in reporting the extent of this financial partnership, Green Party London Assembly Member Caroline Russell also questioned the Mayor over whether he had made any additional agreements with other corporations.
