Advice for renters
The Mayor of London believes that renters deserve better protection from rogue landlords and agents, as well as a more secure and affordable private rented sector.
He is working hard with Government and other partners to get renters the support they need. The Rogue Landlord and Agent Checker is just one part of the Mayor’s work to help renters, but we know that much more needs to be done.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing problems with your private landlord or letting agent, or you’re new to renting, follow our three step process to inform and protect yourself:
- Check.

- Report.
Check
- whether your landlord or agent is on our Rogue landlord and agent Checker

- your agent is registered with a letting agent redress scheme and is a member of a client money protection scheme
- your deposit is registered with a tenancy deposit protection scheme
- whether your landlord or agent is on London Fire Brigade's public register of notices
