Background

The challenge

London Fire Brigade (LFB) is the capital’s fire and rescue service. We are one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world and provide services across the whole of the Greater London area. We serve London’s 8.6 million residents as well as those who work in or visit the city. We are part of your community and we want you to be part of ours.

London’s communities are facing challenging times. The pandemic, cuts to public finances and risks in the built environment are creating a lot of uncertainty. It is increasingly important that the decisions we make about London Fire Brigade are made with Londoners and reflect what matters to you.

That’s why we’re working on an engagement strategy that puts the communities we serve at the centre of what we do. We want our plans and our work to be effective and impactful. To do that we need to work with you, our communities, to make sure your views are heard and considered.

Our approach

As an organisation our purpose is to protect the London we love, and be trusted to serve and protect you as Londoners. In the creation and development of this plan, we’ve been out in our communities. We've been speaking to you directly to find out what you want from us and how we can transform our services to keep you and your communities safe.

Last September, we consulted on our Assessment of Risk and on our high-level strategy. We have taken this feedback on board and our final plan takes account of the comments you shared with us.

Your London Fire Brigade will be our strategy from 2023-2029. It will set out:

  • how we intend to achieve our purpose.
  • how we will look after you by both continuing our service provision and introducing three new services.
  • how we will reduce risk in London.
  • the commitments we will make over that time to meet your expectations.
  • our aspiration to collaborate directly with you by engaging with you, protecting you, learning from you and representing you.

Consultation (open from 30 May – 25 July 2022)

Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) is called 'Your London Fire Brigade'. It's our strategy and delivery plan to keep London safe.

This plan meets requirements placed on us by the Fire and Rescue National Framework for England to produce what they call an integrated risk management plan.
