In periods of hot weather are there any particular problems you have in London or at home? Are there actions you can take to help you cope with heat, or are you not in position to do anything about it?

Community Member 6 years agoTackle urban heat islands by reducing the amount of cars on the road, having adequate cycling networks and planting more trees!

I tried looking into whether heat recovery had been explored down there and apparently the brakes on the carriages are being upgraded to recapture some of the lost energy. This is great, but i am sure there are many ways to recover the general heat from the entire network, especially as the majority is from the sheer number of people, not the carriages. It would also tackle the energy demand issues in the city. This should definitely be a consideration for the mayor.

Community Member 7 years agoMany people complain about car pollution but in hot weather I would like to seat in my car whole day with the engine switched off of course.

Community Member 7 years agoThe tube. We often hear it’s not possible to have a cooler tube train. But this seems unlikely, that a solution can’t be engineered, research and development of a system should be made a top priority.

My flat is unbearably hot in the summer, though on the other hand my office is far too cold (too much air con!). Air con is unnecessary in England for most of the year (except during heatwaves) and is bad for the environment in terms of energy consumption. Lets just have proper windows that open wide in all homes and offices please.
