Decision by: Stephen Greenhalgh, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime
Executive summary
MOPAC has powers under the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 to award crime and disorder reduction grants. In June 2013 the DMPC approved an annual budget of £21.3 million for the London Crime Prevention Fund (LCPF) to run from 2013/14 to 2016/17 in line with the Police and Crime Plan.
DMPC Decision (DMPCD 2013-96) and (DMPD 2014-12) allocated just over £18 million directly to boroughs in 2013/14 and 2014/15, the exact funding allocation, for each borough, was set out in the Appendix of each decision. Overall funding to boroughs for subsequent years was set out as a provisional total.
The purpose of this decision is to agree the allocations to each of the 32 boroughs for 2015/16 and to agree the approach to unspent LCPF funding as at the end of 2014/15. This is in line with the previous decisions and strategies which established the principle to support crime prevention initiatives that meet shared priorities at a local and regional level.
Recommendation
The DMPC is ask to agree:
• That for 2015/16 £17.9 million of LCPF is made available to boroughs.
• The borough allocations for 2015/16 as set out in APPENDIX A.
• That unspent LCPF monies at the end of 2014/15 can be utilised in 2015/16, continuing to be used to support crime prevention initiatives that meet shared priorities at a local and regional level as set out in Section 1.6
