Assistant Practitioner
What does the role include?
As an Assistant Practitioner, you will work in health and social care in a wide range of settings providing skilled and often specialist care to patients, service users and their families.
Assistant Practitioners often gain skills and expertise as a Health/Social Care Support Workers before further developing their career. As an Assistant Practitioner, you will complete a training programme (normally at a foundation degree level) sponsored by your employer.

How long does it take?
A foundation degree normally takes two years to complete.

- level 2 English and Maths or recognised equivalent - support to achieve level 2 English and Maths
- employment with healthcare organisation
- health clearance
- police clearance – UK DBS

After some time working in this role you can look at further study to become a Registered Nurse, this might be through a BSc (Hons) Nursing or a Nursing Degree Apprenticeship.
