Health/Social Care Support Worker

As a Health/Social Care Support Worker you will have a very wide and varied role. You will provide care to people of all ages in their own homes, in hospitals, in residential care and in specialist services.

You will be supervised by someone more experienced than you and provided with support and guidance, as well as learning and development relevant to your work.

Your key skills will be excellent communication, the ability to work in a team and a commitment to providing the highest level of care.

As a Support Worker there are several different routes to progress in your career, many organisations offer initial training through a recognised educational qualification including the care certificate, eg an NVQ. There is also increasing opportunities for Support Workers to apply for apprenticeships through their employers.

There is not normally any cost associated with becoming a Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker.
