ReLondon is a partnership of the Mayor of London and the London boroughs to improve waste and resource management, and transform the city into a leading low-carbon circular economy. Its mission is to make London a global leader in sustainable ways to live, work and prosper by revolutionising our relationship with stuff, and help London waste less and reuse, repair, share and recycle more. ReLondon is a statutory body, chaired by the Mayor of London or his representative (currently Dr Liz Goodwin OBE).

ReLondon objectives

ReLondon’s objectives are:

  • the production of less waste
  • an increase in the proportion of waste that is re-used or recycled
  • the use of methods of collection, treatment and disposal of waste that are more beneficial to the environment in London.

These are achieved by:

  • supporting boroughs to help London live sustainably: running initiatives designed to reduce waste, encourage a shift to more circular systems, and improve recycling to help achieve the Mayor of London’s recycling targets
  • making the circular economy everyone’s business: encouraging businesses to explore, test and shift to more circular systems
  • inspiring Londoners to save the world, one behaviour at a time: motivating London’s citizens to waste less and reuse, repair, share and recycle more, and encourage them to use London’s boroughs’ recycling and waste services.
