London is home to over 1.5 million Europeans and their family members who have been greatly impacted by Brexit and the recent changes to their rights and immigration status as a result.

In partnership with civil society, the GLA advocates for the rights of EU citizens and delivers a programme of support to help European Londoners and their families secure their rights post-Brexit.

European Londoners Hub

This online portal provides EU citizens and their families with all the information they need about living in London after Brexit. Accessed by over 1.5 million people to date, this flagship online resource hosts clear and impartial information about the EU Settlement Scheme, British citizenship and other topics relevant to EU citizens. Here you can also find details of further support and advice services and access guidance in over 20 community languages.

Engaging with European Londoners

Throughout the Brexit process, City Hall has engaged with European Londoners – listening to their concerns, communicating important information, celebrating European cultures and organising mass outreach events with legal partners to help people with their EU Settlement Scheme applications. If you want to stay informed, sign up to receive our updates [here].

Supporting civil society working with European Londoners

City Hall works in close partnership with civil society and community organisations to reach European Londoners with information and support. We do this by convening support and advocacy groups through the Mayor’s Migrant and Refugee Advisory Panel (MRAP), by funding organisations working with particularly vulnerable EU citizens through grants and by building the capacity of the sector, for example through training.

Strategic coordination

City Hall also leads on supporting local authorities and other statutory bodies to navigate the changes to EU citizens’ rights and entitlements as a result of Brexit. This is done through networks such as the London Strategic Migration Partnership (LSMP), the Homeless Migrants Advisory Panel and the NRPF Network and via local authority Brexit leads together with London Councils.
