This meeting took place on 5 March 2015. Read the transcript here.
Policy-makers often focus on supporting new businesses with high growth potential. However, Londoners rely on a large number of small everyday businesses, or microbusinesses. But what makes it difficult for microbusiness to survive in London? Two of the most important issues affecting microbusinesses are the availability of affordable workspace and access to skills and advice in managing a business. The London Assembly Economy Committee will discuss how London’s microbusinesses should be supported with the following guests:
Benedict Dellot, Senior Researcher, The Royal Society of Arts (RSA)
Dr Jessica Ferm, Senior Teaching Fellow, The Bartlett School of Planning and the Faculty of the Built Environment, University College London
Diana Sterck, Chief Executive, Merton Chamber of Commerce
Paul Mayhew, Business consultant, Association of Community Based Business Advice
Simon Pitkeathley, Chief Executive, Camden Town Unlimited
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 5 March from 10:00am in Committee Room 5 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1). Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
