Mayor of London statement on anniversary of Finsbury Park attack

Created on
19 June 2021

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Today Londoners remember Makram Ali, his family and friends, and the innocent Londoners who were deliberately targeted while leaving Ramadan prayers at Muslim Welfare House in Finsbury Park four years ago. We are all entitled to feel safe in our place of worship, and the terror attack in Finsbury Park was an attack on our shared values of tolerance, freedom and respect.

“Terrorists seek to divide us, but the response from our city has shown that our values will always be stronger than the hatred of extremists. I stand united with Londoners today, in defiance of these attacks and celebrate the diversity and strength of our city.”
