In response to Transport for London’s (TfL) publication of the Central London Bus Service Review consultation report, local London Assembly Member, Len Duvall AM, said:

I am pleased that TfL have listened to local concerns about bus services in Kidbrooke and are proposing a new service from Kidbrooke Village to North Greenwich.

“It is very disappointing that despite strong local objections, TfL have proceeded with their planned changes to the 53, 172 and 341 routes which serve Greenwich and Lewisham residents.

“Whilst I acknowledge the need for periodic health checks of our transport network in London and the pressures that TfL face, I am very concerned that these changes will have a significant impact on those who rely on local bus services for their commute to work and to get around the capital.

“It must also be remembered that the Government have removed £700 million a year from TfL’s operating budget. This reckless and irresponsible action has formed the backdrop to TfL having to make some difficult decisions when it comes to investing in London’s transport infrastructure.

“Going forward, I will be closely monitoring TfL’s plans to mitigate the issues and level of disruption that their proposals might cause”.
