Planning for London Programme
What is the Planning For London Programme?
A programme to gather evidence, get the views of Londoners and others and identify issues and options that a future review of the London Plan could consider. It will bring together and report the findings, but it will not set out what a future London Plan will look like or include. These findings will help inform a new or updated Plan.
Our engagement programme includes a number of opportunities to give your views. You can find out more on our engagement portal, or in the following sections on this page.
We also asked for any evidence that should be considered. If there is further evidence or information you want to bring to our attention, please use the email address below.
Deliberative events
We held a series of all-day events, referred to as ‘deliberative events’. These brought together representative groups of Londoners to discuss London’s challenges and future. The themes discussed were:
- a green and fair economy
- sustainable transport and public spaces
- housing
- London’s places and communities.
You can find out more about these events in our video and on our engagement portal.
Stakeholder events
We ran a series of stakeholder events in 2023 that explored similar themes to the deliberative events, but which anyone could join.
To be notified of future events, please use the Planning for London programme form to register your contact details - this is for GDPR purposes.
Future work
We are currently reviewing the engagement to date and are in the process of publishing summaries of these findings.
If you want to be notified when material is published, please sign up to the Planning for London programme notifications and register your contact details - this is for GDPR purposes.
Integrated Impact Assessment
A key part of reviewing the London Plan is the requirement to undertake an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA). This covers the statutory and non-statutory requirements of:
- Sustainability Appraisal (SA)
- Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)
- Habitats Regulation Assessment (HRA)
- Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA)
- Health Impact Assessment (HIA)
- Community Safety Impact Assessment (CSIA)
The government is proposing changes that affect this work, so we will pause it until there is greater certainty about the future process. Please sign up to our newsletter below to be kept updated.
The previous IIA and associated documents can be viewed on the London Plan 2021
