Access course to nursing/health and social care
What does the course involve?
If you do not have traditional educational qualifications, an access course can help you meet the entry requirements for a university application. They are subject-specific, however nursing and social care access courses are widely available.
These courses are delivered by local colleges and are often flexible and part time.
Being employed as a Health/Social Care Support Worker can be an advantage in developing your care skills while completing the access course.
How much does it cost?
Fees are set by the college you attend. You can apply for an advance learner loan, this is repayable once you have completed the course and are earning more than £25,000 a year.
How long does it take?
One to two years.
Entry requirements
These are set by the college. You must be 19 or over on 1 September in the academic year the course starts.
