Free holiday activities for young Londoners this summer

School holidays should be a time to enjoy the best of our city, make memories, learn new skills and build friendships. But it can be a time when some young people are at their most vulnerable and at greatest risk of exploitation and violence.

That’s why the Mayor is investing £6 million to provide free holiday activities for children and young people across the capital.

Over the summer, these fun, safe and positive experiences, will allow children and young people to:

  • access safe youth spaces
  • connect with others
  • explore their talents.

Most activities will include food. Whatever you're looking for, we’ve got you covered this holiday.

What's on offer

From sports and creative workshops to youth clubs and community events, the Mayor is funding a whole host of exciting opportunities all summer long.

Most activities will include food, helping to ease the pressure on families during the holidays.

The activities are focused on helping young people stay safe, inspired, and connected.

About the programme

The Mayor wants London to be the greatest city in the world to grow up in, where every young person has the support and opportunities they need to get ahead.

This £6 million investment will provide the help and support to the children and young people in our city who need it most – offering them something to do, something to aspire to and something to eat.

To increase the number of activities this summer, the programme has expanded existing delivery. This builds on relationships and networks already working across London.

The Holiday Hope programme is a key manifesto commitment. It will directly contribute to the Mayor’s pledge to provide 250,000 young people with activities and positive opportunities in the next four years.

The programme builds on half a million opportunities already delivered through London's Violence Reduction Unit, and includes 100,000 mentoring opportunities for young people.
