Key information

Time: 12:00pm to 6:00pm

Venue: Trafalgar Square, Westminster, London, WC2N 5DN, GB

About the event

The Mayor of London’s St Patrick’s Festival is back on Sunday 16 March 2025.

This annual event has become a highlight of London’s cultural calendar, bringing together visitors and Londoners alike to celebrate the many contributions the Irish community have made to our great city.

Expect a multitude of green as we take over central London for the spectacular parade with exciting floats, marching bands, dance troupes and pageantry, which can be found winding its way from Hyde Park, past Trafalgar Square and onto Whitehall, where it ends.

Hot off the back of their sporting successes in Paris last year, we are delighted to announce that this year’s Grand Marshals are:

  • para cyclist Katie-George Dunlevy, who clinched two gold medals in the Paralympic Games
  • boxer Kellie Harrington, who won two gold medals in the Olympic Games for Ireland.

Trafalgar Square will be a hive of activity with a main stage hosted by Irish-Indian-Malaysian DJ and broadcaster, Tara Kumar, and a world class line up of Irish acts programmed by London Irish Centre including Kila, Women in Harmony and Rag-CV.

There will be an array of stalls, food delights, and, of course, a bar.

Plus, this year, we’re delighted to bring you three new offerings:

  • Irish Creative Collective Sessions, where you can enjoy a line-up of comedy, music, spoken word, and Irish Film and TV film shorts
  • the Irish Dance Zone, where you can learn some basic Irish dancing steps
  • the wonderful Peace Heroines Exhibition, showcasing some of Ireland’s unsung women heroes.

Celebrity chef Anna Haugh is back to delight us with her culinary treats, this time under the guise of her new venture, The Wee Sisters, a wine and food bar celebrating Irish fayre.

About this year's theme

This year’s event theme focuses on sustainability and greening London, and we happily welcome Artburst to the festival, who will be running interactive workshops in the Children’s Zone using recycled and reused material to create headdresses, bunting and a giant mural.

Living, breathing and cycling sustainability we’re also really excited to be able to share clips from 'The Song Cycle', a new film documenting Nick Kelly and his band Dogs cycling and performing all the way from Dublin to Glastonbury to perform at the festival last year.

Promoting the sustainability of both travel and music, we’re thrilled to announce that they’ll be doing the same again, cycling from Dublin to London to join us on the parade and then performing on the main stage.

These free drop-in workshops will take place throughout the day.

We’ve teamed up with the Embassy of Ireland to bring you ‘Peace Heroines’, a vibrant and celebratory exhibition of work by contemporary artist Friz who was invited to create a series of portraits, which would capture the dynamism, bravery and legacy of the remarkable female peace activists of Northern Ireland.

Each portrait captures the essence and spirit of these women, depicting their strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to peace. Each portrait is accompanied by a contextual note on how these women engaged with Northern Ireland’s socio-political climate during this transformative period.

This set of portraits has been reproduced by the Embassy of Ireland from digital photos of the artist’s original works, which first hung in the Northern Ireland Assembly, Stormont and then went on to tour Ireland and Great Britain.

Pall Mall East will be awash with arts and crafts activities for all the family. Celebrating St Patrick’s Day, a friendly team of creatives from Artburst will guide families through the free drop-in workshops throughout the day where you can:

  • make a shamrock treasure pot to grow your own plant at home
  • weave a funky headband to wear during the festival
  • help create St Patrick’s Day themed bunting to hang in the marquee
  • add your own piece of art to the giant St Patrick’s Day mural.

In line with this year’s theme, ‘Sustainability and Greening London,’ all materials and crafts will be made from reused and recycled materials.

Back for another year our Community Advisory Group and The Embassy of Ireland have lined up four Irish poets who you can hear sharing their words throughout Charing Cross Underground Station and Hammersmith Station on the same day as our event.

Listen out for:

  • Tumi Salu
  • John Hurley

Join us at 12:00pm to watch the parade featuring our esteemed Grand Marshals: double gold medallist para cyclist Katie-George Dunlevy and gold medal winner boxer Kellie Harrington, who led Ireland to victory in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The parade showcases a spectacular array of Irish County Associations, community groups, organisations, and businesses, plus lively performances from marching bands, music ensembles, dance groups and carnival performers.
