Accessibility information
Access into general viewing areas
There are no specific areas or platforms inside the general viewing areas for people with access requirements. The fireworks launch from the lasminute.com London Eye and go as high as 200m into the air. This gives everyone across the event a chance to see them.
All general viewing areas will:
- be suitable for arriving by public transport but may require you to travel up to 2km to and from that transport hub
- be based on the streets. As the roads are closed to traffic you will be able to use the roads for step free movement, suitable for wheelchairs
- have stewards on hand to answer any questions
- not have seating and you are not allowed to bring your own
- be busy with large crowds surrounding the ticket viewing area, at the ticket entrance gates and inside the viewing areas
- be noisy with music playing through the event sound systems. No hearing loop is provided
- have accessible toilets, medics and places to buy food and drink.
To see where the event entrances are located, and the arrival tube stations please see the event entrances map. We’ll share more details on getting to and from the viewing areas, and where to find facilities in December. We’ll send this information by email with your tickets. If you don’t receive this by 28 December, please contact our official ticket seller, AXS.
Accessible Viewing Area
This is suitable for people who want to avoid the more crowded viewing areas or need to access a vehicle drop off point.
Our accessible area is on the Albert Embankment in front of St Thomas’ Hospital, on the riverside opposite the Houses of Parliament. However, please note this area has a side view of the fireworks.
This area will:
- be reasonably close to the event vehicle drop off point (around 700m away). This can be reached by roads and pavements with drop curbs suitable for a wheelchair. However, the drop off point is best used before 8pm when road closures will start to restrict access
- be 2km from the nearest public transport, for example, Waterloo station
- not have large crowds
- have accessible toilets no more than 300m away and a Mobiloo unit with a hoist and changing table
- have a first aid point
- have some seating, and you can bring your own fold up seating, too
- have stewards and event staff to answer your questions on the night
- have a hearing loop.
We’ll share more details on getting to and from the accessible viewing area, and where to find facilities in December. We’ll send this information by email. If you haven’t received this by 28 December, please contact our official ticket seller, AXS.

If you are unable to attend the fireworks without an assistant to support you we’ll give them a pass free of charge. First buy up to four tickets for your group (not including the personal assistant). FAQs
The first ticket release will go on sale at 12pm, Friday 3 November.
The second ticket release (including returns) will go on sale at the beginning of December.

No. The only way to guarantee you’ll see the fireworks is to buy a ticket. Restrictions will be in place for people without tickets. If you don’t have a ticket, please don’t come to the area as you will not be allowed in.
There are six different ticketed viewing areas – Blue, Red, Pink, Green and White, plus an Accessible Viewing Area (Orange). If you’re coming with friends, make sure you’re all in the same viewing area. You won’t be able to move between areas on the night.
Important note: you won’t be allowed to cross bridges before or after the event. Consider which viewing area is best for you to travel to and from the event when buying your ticket. Stations will be very busy when the event ends. Choose the side of the river you want to be on afterwards to get home more easily. Otherwise, it might be a much longer walk!
All viewing areas have a specific entry point. You’ll be able to choose where you enter when you book your ticket, provided tickets are still available for this entrance. Your entry point will be printed on your ticket.
Remember, central London will be very busy on New Year’s Eve. There will be many changes in how the city and transport runs on the night. Do plan your night and allow plenty of time to get in.

You can buy up to four tickets. For bigger families and groups, another adult in the family/group can buy extra tickets. You will need to travel to the event as a group. The name of the person who booked is printed on all their tickets. They may be asked to show photo ID to enter the event.

Yes, you can. However, you must change the name on the ticket from yours to theirs once you’ve had your ticket purchase confirmation. You can do this via the ticketing provider AXS: http://www.axs.com/londonnewyearseve.
You can buy up to four tickets. The name you give us of the person going will be printed on all your group’s tickets. They may be asked to show photo ID upon entry as part of the event’s terms and conditions.
This is to help us with security and to stop ticket touts. More people want to come to the fireworks than we have room for. We want to give everyone the same chance to get tickets on a first come, first served basis, and at face value (£20).
The main ticket buyer may need to show photo ID at the entry gate to prove they bought their tickets legally.
As the main ticket buyer, you may be asked to show photo ID that matches the name printed on your group’s tickets to get in.
The best forms of photo ID are your passport or photo driving licence, or a good quality photocopy of either of these. If you don’t have either, stewards on the entry gates will decide whether to accept your alternative photo ID.
