London Urban Forest Partnership
Aims
The London Urban Forest Partnership is a network of organisations that collaborate to protect, manage and enhance the capital's trees and woodlands. The partnership meets quarterly to share information and data, help inform tree related programmes in London and promote the benefits of the city's urban forest.
London’s population continues to grow, estimated as over 9 million people in 2023. It is important that we continue to plant trees and improve London’s green spaces. The aim of the Mayor is to increase tree canopy cover in London by 10 per cent of current levels by 2050, to 23 per cent.
You can read more about the Mayor's tree programme on the tree and woodlands page. Many of these tree planting and woodland projects work with organisations in the partnership.
London Urban Forest Plan
The Partnership have developed a London Urban Forest Plan which was published in November 2020. This sets out the goals and priority actions needed to protect, manage and expand the capital’s urban forest. The Partnership will coordinate delivery of the plan, collaborating with others responsible for the stewardship of London’s urban forest and the wider urban forest community.
Eight partners have received funding from the Trees Call to Action Fund to accelerate delivery the London Urban Forest Plan.
