Find out more about the members of the London Assembly

There are a series of core topics discussed on the night such as transport, policing and safety, housing and London's economic recovery. Questions that fall outside of these core topics can be asked in the final open section.

You can find out more about the role of the Mayor of London.

We expect up to 6 questions (approximately) to be asked and answered in each of the main topic sections, but this may be more or less depending on time constraints. There is a chance of less questions being answered should there be any unforeseen issues.

The Chair will direct each question to the Mayor and/or Assembly Members for a response. Questions are intercepted live from the online audience (live chat forum, live video and read out via the accessible phone line), therefore the Mayor and Assembly Members, do not have access to the questions in advance.

We cannot guarantee that your question will be asked live on the night.

If you are viewing via the livestream and have registered online (via Eventbrite), you can submit your questions via the live chat function on the night. The most popular question as voted for by livestream viewers will then be asked by the Chair to the panel.

We cannot guarantee that your question will be selected on the night. The Chair will try to get through as many questions as possible in the time available.

If your question doesn't get asked on the night, you can contact the Mayor after the event. We will aim to respond within 20 working days.

Owing to online safeguarding issues you must be 16 or over to take part.

There are a series of topics being discussed on the night, which includes (in no particular order);

  • Transport
  • Policing and safety
  • Air quality and the environment
  • Housing
  • London's economic recovery
  • Other questions (i.e. education, culture and so forth)

Prior notice will be given in the lead up to the event, should the topic details change.

Yes. A British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter is on-screen, as part of the livestream content, including subtitles on the screen via a palantypist throughout the event. A full transcript of the event is available on request, post-event.

The February 2024 event was online.

For viewers unable to get online but wanted to engage in the event, they were instructed to call the PQT accessible phone line on 020 7983 4762, which opened on 01 February 2024.

Lines are now closed until the next People's Question Time in November 2024 (dates will be disclosed closer to the time).

To be able to participate online, you will need to register, in order to receive a livestream participation link to the event. The benefit of registering is the ability to type your question into the live chat forum on the night. you also have the chance to put your question forward via live video. These are then put to the Mayor and London Assembly by the PQT Chair. We cannot guarantee that your question will be asked on the night however. This option is now closed, as the event has past.

You can still watch the livestream on this page.

Yes, you do not need to register if you just want to watch the event live.

As we want to get through as many questions as possible, from as many people as possible, we request that you:

    •    ask only one question
    •    stay on topic, such as transport, housing etc
    •    keep questions concise and to the point.

On the night: We want to ensure that Londoners get to ask their questions to the PQT panel, but we will not subject them, or viewers of the event, to abuse. Questions will, therefore, be moderated before they are posted to the live chat, and those that contain swearing, defamatory or illegal remarks or engage in ‘trolling’ will not be posted.

Questions that are off-topic, during a specific topic session, will also be discarded.

We cannot guarantee that your question will be asked on the night.
