Waste collections and litter

London's borough councils are responsible for your recycling and rubbish collections, including food waste, and also keeping our streets clean and tidy. You should contact your local council if you have a specific waste management issue.

Businesses must arrange their own recycling and rubbish collections. They can enter into an agreement with a private waste company or the borough council, if a commerical waste service is offered.

Businesses must store their waste and present this for collection appropriately, ensuring it doesn’t become a source of litter. If business waste is not being stored properly, please contact your local council.

Plastic Bottles

The Mayor of London is working to improve access to free drinking water, helping to reduce the number of single-use plastic bottles in the capital.
