London’s recovery from the coronavirus crisis

The Coronavirus crisis is the largest public health crisis in London in living memory.

Thousands of Londoners have tragically lost their lives to the disease. The pain of their families, friends and colleagues is shared by every single Londoner. As we chart the uncertain waters of a post-COVID-19 world, they will all be in our thoughts.

The context for recovery is extremely challenging. This crisis has exposed long-standing inequalities in our society; disproportionally affecting Black Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. The impact of the crisis on London’s businesses and economy also poses a significant obstacle.

This is also however, an opportunity. We can use our recovery from COVID-19 to reimagine our city as a place with a better long-term future for Londoners. One which is fairer, greener and more resilient than it was before.

London’s business and community groups have come together with the Mayor and leaders of London Councils to formulate nine ‘missions’ for all of London to work towards to achieve the change we’d like to see.

We engaged Londoners from all walks of life when coming up with these ‘missions’ but are now looking to work with Londoners on harnessing their ideas and energy to help build the city back better.

We want every Londoner to feel like they have a say and stake in how we recover from the pandemic. To be a part of this conversation sign up to Talk London, City Hall’s online community, now. Talk London members will be first in line to comment on the draft missions that will sit at the heart of the plan for London's Recovery.
