Both the Mayor and the Greater London Authority team are committed to responding to your query as quickly as possible. We aim to respond to all correspondence within twenty working days of receipt. Where correspondence is of an operational nature and is related to Transport for London (TfL) or the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), we refer these on to be answered by TfL or MOPAC.
Your safety and wellbeing is important to us. If you contact us about something that reveals an immediate threat to life, we will follow our safeguarding process to keep you or others safe. This may include signposting to external agencies or reporting to the police in extreme cases.

Mayoral election correspondence
Please note: the Greater London Authority (GLA) is a public body and correspondence for the candidates for both the Mayor of London and London Assembly elections will not be processed at City Hall.
We would therefore advise you to direct your enquiries to the relevant campaign offices.

You can call us from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. We are closed on bank and public holidays for England.

Useful services that may be of help
- London Councils: You can find contact details for your your council and councillors via the London Councils website. Your council is responsible for issues such as rehousing, parking tickets, and litter.
- Citizens Advice Bureau: If you are seeking legal advice, you may want to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, who are able to give advice on a range of issues.
- Samaritans: If you are feeling anxious, distressed or having suicidal thoughts, you can call the Samaritans at any time of day on 116 123. Calls to this helpline are free and the number will not appear on phone bills.
Freedom of Information requests
If you are considering contacting us to submit an FOI request, we would urge you to consider carefully whether the request is essential at this time.
The Greater London Authority takes its commitments to openness and transparency very seriously and we will continue to work to meet our statutory obligations. However please bear in mind that answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources, and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity.

Please note that we may not reply to correspondence we consider:
- is addressed to another party and where the Mayor has been copied-in for information only
- contains comments that do not require a response e.g. an opinion or a reaction or point of view which does not ask a specific question
- includes unsolicited job applications or CVs (details of our current vacancies are available in the jobs section on our website)
- is trying to sell or market a product
- to be vexatious or contains abusive or discriminatory language (see our vexatious policy)
