Question
TfL toilet map inaccuracies
The Transport for London (TfL) toilet map shows Elephant & Castle tube station as having “male/female/baby changing facilities outside the ticket gateline”. However, a constituent recently tried to access them and couldn’t find them, so asked station staff who told them the toilets don’t exist. Could you tell me: a) how often the TfL toilet map is updated, and b) whether other facilities are incorrectly marked on the map and if so, how many and in what location?
Answer
The Transport for London (TfL) toilet map is reviewed and updated at regular intervals to ensure it accurately reflects where toilets are located on the network. The map was updated in May 2024 to include bus station toilets. The toilet map includes facilities on London Underground, London Overground, Elizabeth line, bus stations and other third-party operators.
The toilet at Elephant & Castle is operated by Thameslink and is located in the National Rail station on Platform 2. This information is indicated by a dagger symbol on the TfL toilet map with additional details about where the toilets are located in a table on the second page of the toilet map.
