Question
Net Zero in Schools
Will you commit to giving schools incremental funding to meet your net zero manifesto commitment and confirm the funding will not be withdrawn from the existing budget?
Answer
Date: Friday 5 July 2024
Please see my previous response to MQ 2024/1612. The budget for the programme will be decided as part of that work, but the cost will not be borne the schools. The programme will aim to reduce not only carbon emissions but also the cost of energy bills in schools, so I expect that it will allow schools to spend more of their existing budgets, not less, on young Londoners.
