Question
Cost of a new cycle hire stand
What is the cost to deliver a new cycle hire stand with space for ten cycles?
Answer
Date: Wednesday 30 August 2023
The average cycle hire docking station has 27 docking points. This costs approximately £90k, which includes site surveys, design, planning, construction and testing costs.
Transport for London (TfL) does not build Cycle Hire stations with fewer than 25 docking points, as it is not operationally efficient to do so. However, an estimate for a station with 10 docking points would be in the region of £65k (overheads would be the same irrespective of the number of docking points).
