Under the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011, the core remit of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is to “secure the maintenance of the Metropolitan Police Force”.
In March 2023, Baroness Louise Casey published her independent review into the standards of behaviour and internal culture of the Met Police.
The review condemned the force’s response to criticism, scrutiny and oversight and suggested that a “dysfunctional relationship has developed” between MOPAC and the Met Police.
The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet tomorrow to discuss MOPAC’s role and effectiveness in its oversight of the Met Police. How does MOPAC plan to strengthen its oversight arrangements, following the findings of the Baroness Casey review?
The guests are:
- Diana Luchford CB, Chief Executive Officer, MOPAC
- Kenny Bowie, Director of Strategy and MPS Oversight, MOPAC
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 24 May 2023 from 10am, in The Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
