Assembly to assess Mayor's Fire nominee

The London Assembly Fire Committee will meet tomorrow to determine whether to hold a confirmation hearing on Friday, to assess the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s, proposed appointment to the office of Deputy Mayor for Fire. 

The meeting will take place on Thursday 23 May at 1pm or the rise of Mayor’s Question Time, whichever is latest in the Chamber, at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend – numbers may be limited

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.


Notes for editors

  1. If the Committee decides to hold a confirmation hearing, its recommendation regarding the Mayor’s proposed appointments may be binding in some circumstances.
  2. In accordance with Schedule 4A of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (as amended 2007), the London Assembly may hold Confirmation Hearings in respect of specific appointments and make a recommendation to the Mayor on the candidates proposed for appointment.
