Anne Clarke AM hails new direct bus connecting Golders Green and Stamford Hill

Labour London Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden Anne Clarke has welcomed news that Transport for London plans to introduce a new bus route that directly connects Golders Green with Stamford Hill, two of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities in London.

Ms Clarke said:

We have campaigned for many years with local residents for a direct bus link between Golders Green and Stamford Hill to better connect families and friends in these two large and historic Orthodox Jewish communities. There are many community charities and organisations that can now be more easily accessed by the whole community in both locations.

‘With the shocking and appalling rise in antisemitic attacks over the last year, I have heard from many Jewish children and families about how having to change buses can lead to them being targeted, and I hope that this decision will lead to them feeling safer.

‘The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has always had a strong bond with the Jewish Community, and he is showing his understanding of their concerns and championing their needs by finally delivering on this route, following many years of campaigning, and representations by myself and my predecessor Andrew Dismore, and many other local London Assembly members, past and present.’
