Krupesh Hirani AM welcomes £3.1 million to transform Neasden Town Centre

Krupesh Hirani, London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, has welcomed a £3.1 million investment for green spaces, road safety and a revitalised high street in Neasden Town Centre, Brent.

The Neasden Town Centre project will transform one of London’s most polluted town centres into a greener, safer, and more accessible area for residents and visitors. It will invest in parks and green spaces, realign the road junctions to make it safer, make the town centre more accessible for pedestrians and refresh the high street to include a community training kitchen - engaging with young people and the local community.

Neasden Town Centre is one of five areas across Brent, Redbridge, Hackney, Lewisham, and Croydon receiving funding. Town centres totalling the size of four Wembley football pitches will be made greener, safer and more accessible over the next three years.

The funding is part of the Mayor of London’s, Sadiq Khan’s, £12.4 million Civic Partnership Programme, which will build a fairer city, making all areas of London enjoyable to spend time in. The funding will help create open, connected, and inclusive public spaces and high streets, allowing Londoners from all backgrounds to shape their city’s growth.

Assembly Member Hirani, a Brent local, has said this funding will help build the local economy and give the area assets that help vulnerable residents find connection and purpose.

Krupesh Hirani, London Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow, said:

“Neasden has a thriving community, and I am proud to call it home. We know our area has some challenges - we are the most polluted Town Centre in London and our town centre can feel blocked off by the North Circular.

“That’s why this investment in Neasden is so important. By addressing the pollution and traffic, our community will enjoy a healthier and more welcoming town. On top of that, we can expect our local businesses to see the benefits of an improved high street and vulnerable Brent residents find opportunities in the community kitchen - showing just how much this investment will help our community thrive.

“This project is about more than just improving infrastructure; our community should have as much access to vibrant, inclusive public spaces as any other part of London. I’m pleased to see the Mayor support Neasden and make it an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”
