Tracking Pupil Progress & targeting teaching strategies to close gaps

What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Ensuring there were robust systems in place to identify pupils who had lower starting points and were disadvantaged, so we could close the gaps and accelerate their progress.

What actions did you take?

-Plan and deliver a stimulating curriculum to engage and inspire

-Good and Outstanding quality first teaching. Monitoring and quality assuring teaching, to sharpen delivery and personalise learning

-Targeted and tailored interventions to bridge gaps

-A range of enrichment opportunities to develop thinking and language skills.

-Reading coaching

-Reaching out to parents

-Tracking data termly to ensure pupils make good progress and that the strategies put in place positively impact on their outcomes.

-Enrichment opportunities such as music tuition, class trips and residential visits to motivate the children

What were the outcomes?

Attainment and progress rose for these pupils, and higher expectations for them were evident.
