About the fund

Please note that the New Homes Bonus Fund is now in delivery.

The Government’s first Growth Deal for London, announced in July 2014, included £70m of New Homes Bonus (NHB) funding. This funding is being used by London’s boroughs on projects which support the LEP’s Jobs and Growth Plan.

NHB is a non-ring-fenced grant to local authorities, calculated broadly on the number of homes built in each local authority. All London boroughs have contributed a proportion of this funding to the £70m, based on their NHB allocation for 2015-16. Each borough’s NHB money is being returned to its local community via the LEP NHB Programme.

Borough proposals have been assessed on how well the activity funded aligns with the LEP Jobs and Growth Plan.

The programme is now delivering the following:

  • getting long-term unemployed Londoners back into work with employer-focused programmes that aim to integrate local services
  • driving local economic growth by re-vitalising and diversifying London’s high streets
  • providing much needed incubator, accelerator or co-working spaces for small businesses
  • supporting small businesses to grow, focusing on sectorial and local opportunities, and to become more energy efficient
  • unlocking key development sites to deliver jobs, homes and commercial space and ensure local people benefit from these opportunities

The NHB fund is made up of 127 proposals, across these seven themes:

  • Apprenticeships, skills and training: 42 proposals (funding value: £21.68m)
  • Business support: 17 proposals (funding value: £6.08m)
