The London Digital Security Centre (LDSC) is England’s first specialist centre dedicated to helping small and medium businesses (SMEs) protect themselves from cyber criminals.

About the LDSC

The LDSC was officially launched on 1st October 2015 and was a key recommendation in the MOPAC Business Crime Strategy, launched in July 2014, which aims to make London a safer, better place to do business.

Millions of pounds are lost to cyber-crime each year and online security is a growing concern for SMEs, with attacks increasing against both them and large corporate businesses. 74 per cent of SMEs in the UK reported being attacked by an unauthorised outsider in 2015, and 16 per cent had their network hit, losing both sensitive data and the ability to trade.

What does the LDSC do?

The LDSC provides a suite of core subsidised digital services to SME sized businesses through working with the private sector and in collaboration with UK Universities who are providing ethical hacking and digital forensic students to support the initiative. The services available include Security Assessments to help secure your digital infrastructure against attacks from cyber criminals and Digital Footprint Reports to help you understand information which could potentially be used by fraudsters.

The LDSC model is unique in that it is the first time that the digital interests of the Metropolitan Police Service (through Project FALCON), NCA and the City of London Police will work together as one Board, with MOPAC overseeing each annual programme of activity including a campaign of awareness raising and roadshows across London.

In summary, the LDSC provides small and medium size businesses across London with confidence in trading successfully in a digital environment and ensuring that they safe in managing customer information and data to better protect their business.
