Executive summary
To provide funding to Crimestoppers to recruit and employ a Regional Manager for London, in common with other regions. The Regional Manager would enable Crimestoppers to support the delivery of key parts the Police and Crime Plan. The post would be funded and managed in collaboration with the City of London Police.
Recommendation
The DMPC is recommended to approve funding of £39,926 pa to be provided to Crimestoppers for three years to contribute towards the funding of a Regional Manager post. Funding will be subject to review as to the performance of the role.

1. Introduction and background
1.1. Crimestoppers is an organisation dedicated to supporting police services. It is a not for profit organisation. The core of its work involves providing a means for the public to provide information concerning crimes and criminasl to the Police through a third party and in an anonymised way. Individuals doing so may be eligible for a financial reward.
1.2. For London the benefit of having a dedicated Regional Manager will be that the Police can work with them to develop activities and campaigns to prioritise certain criminal activity and to actively support the crimes that are central to the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan. Clearly at the present time serious youth violence would be a priority.
2. Issues for consideration
2.1. The post will be recruited in collaboration with the City of London Police. They will contribute funding towards the post. This will reflect the regional nature of the post.
2.2. The post will be tasked through a joint mechanism between the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police, in particular the Force’s respective Intelligence Units.
2.3. The effectiveness of the post will be overseen by the two Forces in conjunction with MOPAC officers.
2.4. The initiation of this post is supported by the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police and by the Commissioner of the City of London Police.
