London’s Violence Reduction Unit’s approach focuses on prevention and early intervention to stop violence before it occurs.

We know that to reduce violence affecting young people, we must intervene at key points in their life – that includes roles for parents, schools, communities, and peers.

Our investment is focused and targeted, ensuring our interventions are joined up and follow the journey of a child or young person and the key relationships they hold.

We invest in a range of programmes set across five priority areas:

What we have achieved so far

  • £10m

invested in education which is now supporting London’s Inclusion Charter.

  • 7,000

parents and carers supported across almost every borough by parent/carer champion networks.

  • 350,000

positive opportunities funded for young people over five years.

  • 40,000

activities and targeted interventions delivered by communities through our MyEnds programme.
