The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) says today the UK should cut greenhouse gases to nearly zero by 2050.
The CCC says, if other countries do the same, there’s a 50-50 chance of staying below the recommended 1.5C temperature rise by 2100.
In response, Caroline Russell AM, Chair of the London Assembly Environment Committee, said:
“The London Assembly has called for London to be carbon neutral by 2030, two decades earlier than the CCC’s recommendations. This tougher target reflects the severity of the crisis and focuses minds on the far-reaching measures that this climate emergency demands.”
