On 21 June 2021, lockdown restrictions could be eased even further with the reopening of nightclubs and large events.
As lockdown restrictions were lifted at various points over the last year, there was a spike in violent crime across the capital.
In addition, the EURO 2020 football tournament begins this Friday. Emerging research suggests a link between football and domestic abuse with the risk of domestic abuse rising by 26 per cent when the English national team won or drew, and 38 per cent when the national team lost.
Tomorrow, the Police and Crime Committee will look will look at the plans in place to ensure that violent crime does not creep back to pre-pandemic levels this summer.
