Businesses have faced big challenges with trading over the last year due to COVID-19. The pandemic has forced companies to close their doors for months at a time and has also dramatically impacted London’s world-leading cultural sector.
The Economy Committee is holding a meeting tomorrow to assess the Mayor’s progress on his manifesto and strategy commitments for skills, business, equality and culture, and the impacts of COVID-19. The Committee will explore what challenges have been faced by London’s businesses and what is impacting on the city’s prosperity. The meeting will investigate how Skills for Londoners has been delivered, examine developments in London’s cultural sector and assess progress towards building a fairer and more equal society.
Prior to this, the meeting will continue its investigation into Universal Basic Income.
The guests are:
Panel A: Universal Basic Income
- Alfie Stirling, Director of Research and Chief Economist, New Economics Foundation
- Dr Simon Duffy, Director of the Centre for Welfare Reform
Panel B: Review of the term, 2016-21
- Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business
