Crossrail have today announced that it has appointed Mark Wild, Managing Director of London Underground at Transport for London (TfL) as its chief executive. He will replace Simon Wright who is stepping down as planned at the end of the year.

Chair of the London Assembly Transport Committee, Caroline Pidgeon MBE AM, said:

“This decision by TfL is welcomed. Mark Wild is someone very aware of the Crossrail brief coming from a top position at TfL. We hope it marks the start of TfL being able to get a grip on the project going forward.

“Crossrail has been given even more money from government to complete this project as well as more time. We hope Mark, who will be aware of the problems Crossrail has encountered so far, will set a new direction on how to finish this major project. Most importantly, to work with the Mayor to help honour his commitment to transparency going forward for the sake of Londoners’ trust.”

“Crossrail will be a huge benefit to Londoners. We are all looking forward to the day those trains are on the tracks and all of London can take advantage of this new transport facility.”
