Feast on Ireland's finest at Trafalgar Square Street Food Market

St Patrick's Day on Trafalgar Square
Created on
11 March 2016

London celebrates St Patrick’s Day on Sunday 13 March. Acclaimed Irish chef John Relihan, one of Jamie Oliver’s original ‘Fifteen’, looks ahead to the Bord Bia food market in Trafalgar Square, where he leads a delicious line-up.

Saint Patrick’s Day is unlike any other national patron saint celebration – for one or two days of the year, we’re all Irish!

As an Irishman who splits his time currently between London and Cork City, I was delighted to be invited to be part of this year’s Bord Bia food market, which has an Irish-influenced street food theme, using just some of the great produce Ireland has to offer.

I am working with amazing producers from Ireland and will be cooking on ‘live fire’, to serve smoked Irish pulled pork and BBQ sauce and slaw. I will also be preparing a delicious slow-cooked Irish beef stew.

I’ll be joined on the day by The Pie Cart, Salt Beef Bros, Butchies and Eat The Farm, who have all created delicious Irish-flavoured street food for the event.

Think Irish black pudding Scotch eggs, Irish fried chicken sandwiches, salt-cured and slow-cooked Irish brisket and American-style Irish beefburgers and you’ll have an idea of just some of the delights on offer. I’m hungry just writing this!

Of course you’ll need some liquid refreshment to go with all this amazing food, so an Irish craft beer tent will be serving drinks from Rye River Brewing Co. (McGargles) and Carlow Brewing (O’Hara’s).

We’re expecting thousands of people, so the atmosphere promises to be amazing. The fun starts at noon and runs until 6pm, and entry is free.
