‘Your London Fire Brigade’ – one year on

London Street
Created on
30 January 2024

The London Fire Commissioner is required to publish a plan that sets out how to improve public safety, reduce the number of emergency incidents and save lives.

To achieve this, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) engaged with Londoners to create ‘Your London Fire Brigade’ – a strategy and delivery plan for 2023-29 that was launched in January 2023 [1].

This replaced LFB’s ‘London Safety Plan’, published in 2017. In the years after it was published, LFB was faced with major incidents such as the Grenfell Tower fire and the subsequent inquiry, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Independent Culture Review in November 2022 indicated that LFB needed to change how it operates and delivers services for Londoners [2].

How effective is the new ‘Your London Fire Brigade’ plan in representing LFB’s plans for 2023-29?

The London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee will meet tomorrow to discuss this, including how LFB staff understand and engage with the plan, and how LFB is continuing its community engagement.

The guests are:

  • Andy Roe, London Fire Commissioner
  • Baroness Twycross, Deputy Mayor for Fire and Resilience
  • Fiona Dolman, Director for Transformation, LFB
  • Verona Clarke, Southwark, Borough Commander, LFB
  • Gareth Cook, Regional Organiser, London, Fire Brigades Union

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 31 January 2024 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
