The Mayor now oversees a total budget of £21.4 billion and is responsible for allocating funds for the Greater London Authority (GLA) and its functional bodies [1].

  • The Mayor’s Consultation Budget 2024-25 states that the council tax precept will rise by 8.6% to £471.40 for a typical ‘Band D’ household.
  • The Mayor’s Consultation Budget 2024-25 identifies a £144 million funding gap for implementing the ‘New Met for London’ plan.
  • The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and the Metropolitan Police Service 2024-25 Budget identifies a further funding shortfall of £41 million.
  • The Transport for London 2024-25 Budget projects an increase in fares income of £391 million compared with 2023-24.
  • The Mayor’s 2024-25 Budget plans include capital expenditure of £703 million for the 2021-26 Affordable Homes Programme.
