Created on
19 February 2024

Each year the Transport Committee hosts a question-and-answer session with the Transport for London (TfL) Commissioner and the Deputy Mayor for Transport.

On 18 December 2023, TfL announced that is had reached an agreement with the Government on a new £250 million funding injection for 2024. The additional funding is being provided to enable continued delivery of TfL’s capital investment programme and its committed major capital projects, including the Piccadilly Line upgrade. [1]

On 19 January 2024 the Mayor announced a freeze on TfL fares until March 2025, through a proposed additional £123m of funding in the GLA 2024-25 budget. On 28 January 2024, the Mayor announced that he asked TfL to undertake a three month trial to make all London Tube and Rail fares off-peak prices on Fridays.

The Mayor announced in March 2022 that the ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) would be expanded London-wide. This expansion came into effect August 2023.

The London Assembly Transport Committee will meet tomorrow to question the TfL Commissioner and the Deputy Mayor on TfL’s approach to fares, the impact of the ULEZ expansion, and other areas of the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.

Guests include:

  • Seb Dance, Deputy Mayor for Transport
  • Andy Lord, TfL Commissioner

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 20 February 2024 from 10am, in the Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
