Personal safety on the Transport for London network

A red London bus
Created on
29 November 2023

The latest figures show that crime on the Transport for London (TfL) network is up by 30 per cent across all modes of transport compared to the year before [1].

Passenger volume is up 13 per cent, meaning that the risk of being a victim of a crime on public transport has increased [2].

For the second of a two-part investigation into safety on the TfL network, the Transport Committee will look at the personal safety of customers, and the work that the British Transport Police and TfL are doing to reduce and prevent crime on the network.

Guests include:

  • Siwan Hayward OBE, Director of Compliance, Policing, Operations and Security, Transport for London
  • Mandy McGregor, Head of Policing and Community Safety, Transport for London
  • Alex Smith, Head of Campaigns, London TravelWatch
  • Chris Casey, Divisional Commander, British Transport Police
  • Christina Jessah, A/Detective Chief Superintendent, OCU Commander, Roads and Transport Policing Command, Met Police

The meeting will take place on Thursday 30 November 2023 from 10am, in the Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
