According to the Centre for London, London has a “severe housing crisis” driven by a long-term failure to allow sustainable growth, structural unfairness in the housing market and a policy that has been driven by short termism[1].

The Mayor is responsible for an overall budget of £20.7 billion, and ahead of the draft consolidated budget being produced, the Greater London Authority (GLA) Group will continue to present its budget plans to the London Assembly.

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will meet the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, alongside senior officers from across the GLA Group, including the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and Oak Park Development Corporation (OPDC), to question them on their plans for housing delivery in their 2024/25 budgets.

Guests include:

  • Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, GLA
  • Lyn Garner, Chief Executive, LLDC
  • Gerry Murphy, Executive Director of Financial, Commercial and Corporate Services, LLDC
  • David Lunts, Chief Executive Officer, OPDC
  • Emma Williamson, Director of Planning, OPDC
  • Tim Steer, Executive Director for Housing, GLA
  • Heather Juman, Assistant Director Housing, GLA
  • Simon Powell, Assistant Director of Strategic Projects and Property, GLA
  • Graeme Craig, Director & Chief Executive at TTL Properties Limited

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 12 December 2023 from 10am, in the Chamber at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.

Media and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
