For the ten years between 2010/11 and 2019/20, the estimated value of fares evaded on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) was just under £10.9m.[1]
These are the latest figures for fare evasion on the DLR as no surveys were carried out during the pandemic.
With DLR ridership levels slowly climbing towards pre-pandemic levels,[2] and with Transport for London’s (TfL) 2023 business plan highlighting opportunities for future expansion on the DLR network, the London Assembly Transport Committee will meet on Monday to discuss how much of an issue fare evasion is on the DLR.
The Committee will also question senior TfL officers on the proposed expansion and rolling stock replacement, which will see a new fleet of 54 trains replace the existing 33 older trains in order to expand capacity.
Guests at the meeting include:
- Trish Ashton, Director of Rail & Sponsored Services, TfL
- Tom Page, General Manager of DLR, TfL
- Matthew Yates, Head of Projects & Consents, TfL
- Richard Graham, Managing Director, KeolisAmey Docklands
The meeting will take place on Monday 18 December from 10am, in The Chamber, at City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, E16 1ZE.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube.
