Designing out crime through London’s planning system

Planning and Regeneration Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am

Whilst there is no statutory legislation for the police to be involved in the planning process, for large scale developments the police can provide advice regarding safety in design.

This guidance could lead to avoiding unnecessary alleyways, secure and climb resistant fencing, safety of public areas, car parking and private areas being well lit.

The Planning and Regeneration Committee will meet to investigate the role of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in the design of London’s communities, and the impact their role has in safety design.
