The built environment can present extensive challenges for disabled people, as the design, layout and supply of homes, public spaces and transport modes can play a significant role in accessibility and inclusivity.
The London Assembly Planning and Regeneration Committee will meet to investigate how London’s planning system considers the needs of disabled Londoners. The Committee will hear directly from disabled Londoners on the challenges they face on a daily basis navigating London’s built environment, as well as hearing from the Greater London Authority on the work the Mayor is doing to make London more accessible.

Health impacts of harmful gambling in London

Harmful gambling can lead to a range of mental and physical harms, including stress, anxiety and depression. Gambling can also negatively impact people’s relationships and finances, which can contribute to poor mental health.
A survey of GPs found that there is concern that people may be less likely to disclose gambling harms to their GPs, compared to problems related to alcohol, smoking or drugs.
For the first of two meetings on the health impacts of gambling in London, the London Assembly Health Committee will meet to examine the extent of harmful gambling participation in London, including both online and land-based gambling.

Personal safety on the transport network
Transport Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
Latest figures show that crimes on the Transport for London (TfL) network were up by 28.5% across all modes of transport compared to the pre-pandemic average.
Passenger volume was down by 13.9%, meaning that the risk of being a victim of a crime on public transport has increased.
For the second a two part investigation into safety on the TfL network, the Transport Committee will look at personal safety of customers, and the work the British Transport Police and TfL is doing to reduce and prevent crime on the network.
