Three people in London have lost their lives in fires believed to have been caused by a failure of an e-bike's lithium battery, while 51 people have been injured this year.

The London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee will publish a letter to the Government raising serious concerns over the regulation of online sales of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Preventing violence and protecting young people

Police and Crime Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am

Serious youth violence can impact a young person’s development and make them more likely to be involved in the justice system in later life.

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet to discuss youth violence in London and the impact of London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU)’s initiatives on protecting young people. The guests are:

Climate budgeting

According to a report by specialist energy consultants, Element Energy, the cost for the Mayor’s preferred and adopted pathway for London to meet net zero requires £75 billion in infrastructure investments by 2030 and a total of £108 billion by 2050.

The London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will meet to investigate how the Mayor’s climate budgeting has progressed since 2022, as well as seeking an update on the Mayor’s Green Finance Fund and his 2024/25 budget guidance.

Can Londoners access eating disorder support?

Health Committee - The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 3.15pm

NHS eating disorder services offer a range of treatment options, depending on the symptoms that patients present with. Care may involve monitoring of weight, mental and physical health, eating disorder focussed cognitive behavioural therapy and/or dietary counselling.

For the second of two meetings on eating disorders, the London Assembly Health Committee will meet to discuss people’s access to, experiences of and outcomes from eating disorder services in London.
