How is LFB preparing for flooding and wildfires?
Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
London Fire Brigade (LFB) has identified climate change, and the extreme weather arising from it, as a key risk which will place increasing demand on its resources.
LFB recently published a review of the major incident declared last summer at the peak of the extreme heat when wildfires broke out across London on 19 July on its ‘busiest day since World War II’. What lessons have been learned?
The London Assembly Fire, Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee will meet to discuss how the Brigade is adapting to and mitigating for climate change, and working with partners like Thames Water to better protect Londoners.
- Jonathan Smith, Deputy Commissioner, LFB
- Paul McCourt, Assistant Commissioner, Operational Policy and Assurance, LFB
- Mostaque Ahmed, Director for Corporate Services, LFB
- Alex Nickson, Water Resources and Growth Lead, Thames Water
- Simon Moore, Head of Planning, Thames Water

Local policing in London – what are the challenges?
Police and Crime Committee – The Chamber, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, 10am
How will the Metropolitan Police Service achieve its mission of “more trust, less crime and high standards” in local policing?

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee will meet to discuss this, five years on from when BCUs were established in 2018.
